Find your number

It takes thirty seconds and a ruler. Do it once and you will never order the wrong frame again.

How to measure

01 — Find your temples

The flat spots on either side of your head, just above and forward of your ears. That is the widest part a frame has to clear.

02 — Measure across

Hold a ruler flat against your face and read the distance from one temple to the other, in millimeters. Have someone help if it is awkward.

03 — Round up

That figure is your number. If you land between two, take the larger. A frame slightly wide sits fine; a frame slightly narrow never does.

142 138–144 mm The Vaughn, The Ames, The Prine

Questions people actually ask

I do not own a ruler. Now what?

Take a pair that already fits you and measure across the front, hinge to hinge. That number is close enough to start with.

Is a wider frame going to look oversized?

No. A frame that matches your face reads as correct. What looks wrong is a narrow frame stretched across a broad face, which is what most people have been wearing.

Why does temple length matter?

A wide front on short arms still squeezes behind the ears. We publish temple length on every frame for that reason. Look for 140 mm or more if you are in the 148 or 154 band.

What if I measure wrong?
